An obvious solution is to integrate an organic, sustainable, plant-rich and healthy diet on one plate, here defined as the OnePlate concept. The Plate project offers a holistic approach translated into appetizing and affordable recipes and menus that fit families everyday life. The oncept will be developed and tested by a multidisciplinary collaboration between Aarhus University, Meyers Madhus, and DTU food with Organic Denmark as subcontractor. The project aims to: ¿ Provide knowledge on families barriers, opportunities and motivational factors towards changing their intake towards a more organic, sustainable and healthy diet. ¿ Deliver new evidence on the importance of such a diet for both our own health (i.e. impact on pesticide exposure and disease prevention) and for the health of the planet (i.e. impact on climate, land-use and biodiversity). ¿ Translate, communicate and disseminate the OnePlate projects insights into informational material and tools for use by consumers and organic food stakeholders. The project will through a consumer and stakeholder survey, develop the OnePlate-concept that are optimized to a low carbon footprint and low environmental impact. The concept will then be tested among Danish families in a randomized controlled trial compared to usual diet. The effect will be evaluated with regard to feasibility, health and environmental effects. Finally, results and tools will be made publicly available and communicated to the general public and to the scientific community. We expect that the results from the study will contribute to motivate more consumers to buy healthy, organic food in the future. www.orgprints.org
